Senior Purchasing & Planning Manager

A Senior Purchasing & Planning Manager is needed for an industry leading industrial products manufacturer.  This key position leads all purchasing and production planning for the company and is responsible for developing procurement strategies, maintaining relationships with suppliers, (both international and domestic), developing and negotiating with new suppliers, coordinating with internal departments regarding their supply and production needs, and directing all material planning and production scheduling for manufacturing. 

This position reports into the VP of Operations and will supervise a team of 5 direct reports.

Responsibilities:

• Will direct all strategic and functional purchasing for North America along with all production planning and scheduling
• Will supervise a team of up to 5 direct reports
• Will have direct material spend along with indirect & some MRO
• Achieve best pricing for all commodity areas
• Negotiate terms and pricing for capital investments
• Monitors indices for metals, plastics, etc...
• Monitor and communicate supply chain developments regarding governmental regulations and new technologies
• Utilize the company's MRP system for data input and collection
• Provide real-time feedback for senior leadership to help with decision making

Requirements:

• BS degree in a Supply Chain or related discipline
• CPM or CPIM certification preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of experience leading Purchasing and Materials in a manufacturing company
• Leadership experience over direct reports
• International purchasing experience
• Experience in negotiating and establishing supplier agreements
• Experience purchasing steel, plastics and coatings
• Strong proficiency in ERP systems along with all Microsoft Office products
• Demonstrated success in Lean Production Systems and Lean supply networks
• Must be super detailed and organized
• Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal) as well as an outstanding personality
• Must have high integrity and honesty
• Able to travel up to 10%
